Identification of current and future skill needs in the Energy Sector
Stakeholders in the Energy Value chain (Industry, Suppliers, Researchers, Education providers, Recruiters, Policy makers and Social representatives) will be specified to identify their skill gaps regarding digitalisation. The current skills and competences of professionals and students from university and pre-university will be assessed in relation to the identified skill gaps and also how the curriculum is performed, to assess how they respond to the emerging industry needs.
Stakeholder mapping and strategic network building
The main objective is to perform Stakeholder mapping and strategic network building. The work involves the creation of a Stakeholders’ map as a database of sector occupations and job profiles, with skills content analysis and set the ground for a strategic cooperation. The stakeholder mapping will start by identifying all relevant areas involved in the energy sector and then desk research to identify institutions, companies, organizations and all other interest groups that are relevant to the energy transformation system in Europe.
Assessment of policies and requirements for VET and beyond
This will evaluate the best practice at regional, national and European level for VET and universities policies and initiatives. A key point will be establishing (education and training) reference points (based on occupations) within existing skills delivery (formal and informal) systems. As a result, a detailed description of best practices and analysis will become the basis for the identification of Energy sector skills and qualifications and their integration into educational systems at different levels.
The strategy will provide concrete examples of policies and initiatives at national and regional level aiming at addressing skill shortages and mismatches as well as fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships (e.g. between industry, social partners, education and training, public authorities). Training activities will be developed to meet the technical, green and digital skills defined at EQF levels 4 to 8, both for young profiles still to start their professional careers and for junior/senior professionals in the Energy sector.
